9Ct Gold Pale Opal Trilogy Ring

Three little opals in a row, each its own pool of shifting colour. There's a soft, old-fashioned romance to a trilogy that never really dates. Traditionally a three-stone ring is said to stand for past, present and future, and this preloved 9ct gold example has clearly seen a good stretch of all three.

An oval cabochon sits at the centre, flanked by two round opals, all claw-set on a slim band with tapered shoulders so the light can travel across them. It wears low and comfortable enough for every day, and makes a lovely opal promise ring or October birthstone gift. The hallmark shows it was crafted in Birmingham, the historic home of British jewellery, stamped 375 for 9ct gold with 'REM' the maker's mark.
