9Ct Gold Tanzanite & Diamond necklace

Tanzanite has that lovely violet-blue that shifts in the light, and here it's massed into a little floral cluster around a bright central diamond. The claw settings hold each stone up to the light so the whole flower shimmers as you move. It's a delicate thing — barely a gram of 9ct gold — and it layers beautifully with other fine chains or sits neatly on its own. I think cluster pieces like this punch well above their size; you get plenty of sparkle without anything heavy at the neck. The hallmark shows it was crafted in Birmingham in 2006, marked 375 for 9ct gold with the maker's initials LA.
