Vintage Sapphire & Diamond Halo 9Ct Gold Ring

An oval sapphire ringed by a halo of little diamonds — the cluster look done properly. The centre stone is faceted and raised in its claw setting, and the diamonds sit in shared claws around it so the whole head reads as one bright flash of blue and white. It's built on a polished 9ct gold band with gently tapered shoulders, giving good presence on the finger without spreading too wide. For my money this is an ideal vintage-style engagement or dress ring, and it pairs happily with a plain wedding band. The hallmark shows it was crafted in London in 1986 by the maker CJ Ltd, stamped 375 for 9ct gold.
